Her Favorite Way to Improve Your Writing:<\/h2>\n\n\n\nRead.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Read widely, read short fiction, novels, and read often.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n One of the biggest things that you can do to improve your writing is to read everything. Read outside of what you normally read and what you normally write. You can learn something from every genre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Here are Reed’s favorite online magazines of short fiction:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n When she suggested this to me I cringed a little. I read stacks of non-fiction but I get annoyed by “bad fiction”. I have a hard time committing to reading a fiction book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Her response was: <\/p>\n\n\n\n I enjoyed this way of looking at fiction and my disdain for it. Reading out of my comfort zone is something that can stretch my writing. It will help me grow in my skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All writers need inspiration and new perspectives. Everyone can tell a story it is just a matter of practice.
